Windows 10 was launched five months ago, but has managed to garner millions of users since its debut.

How to disable tips in Windows 10

The new operating system continues to pull in more users, but on a slower rate.

This is possible due to the fact that there is a good seven months left, for the Redmond company’s free Windows 10 upgrade offer, which Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 users can take advantage of. And also, there is the aggressive pushing of the offer by Microsoft, which has led to users criticizing the move on several social networks and forums.

Regardless of whether you upgraded from one of the aforementioned versions of Windows, or if you have a new Windows 10 PC for Christmas, (congratulations by thei way), there are a few things you may wish to learn about the operating system.

For those of you who are familiar with Windows 10, you may want to disable the tips notifications which pops-up every now and then in the OS’s Action Center in the system tray. This is especially true, when you are tying a new feature for the first time, on the device.

New users may want to leave the option on for a while, as they familiarize themselves with the features of the OS. Fortunately, it is not in the least complicated to turn off the notifications, which may get annoying after a while.

How to disable tips notifications in Windows 10

1. Click on the Start button, and open the Settings app.

(or just use the key combo Windows + I. A full list of keyboard shortcuts is available here.)

2. Select the first option in the list, System.

3. In the sidebar to the left, click on the option which says “Notifications & Apps”.

4. Now, on the right pane, there are several options. The first one of these should say “Show me tips about Windows”. This is enabled by default.

5. You will notice that it has a toggle button below it.  This is enabled by default. Click on the button to disable the tips. It should turn white, and display the word “off”.

Now, you should no longer see those annoying tips about Windows 10. Simply close the settings app to return to your previous task, you don’t even have to reboot the PC. You may also follow these steps to enable the option again, perhaps to help a friend or family member who isn’t tech savvy.
