IObit Uninstaller 5 graduates out of beta, stable version released

by AshwinAugust 12, 2015

Iobit has released the first stable version of its uninstaller application, IObit Uninstaller 5.

If you remember our previous wrote-up, we analyzed the first beta version of the app a couple of months ago.

To recap, Iobit Uninstaller 5 has a newer UI, which looks better and a bit flatter than v4. The app has an Enhanced Powerful Scan which is cleans residual files faster.  The app also has a browser toolbar remover, which supports popular browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Internet Explorer, allowing you to remove add-ons with ease.

If you reboot during an app’s uninstallation, Iobit Uninstaller will allow you to resume the removal process after the system has been restarted. The app has 4 new tools called Cleanup, Windows tools, Startup and Process (Refer to the above link where I have reveiewed the new features in depth.

And here is my take on the stable release of IObit Uninstaller 5.

The first thing to notice, is that the app no longer displays the “beta” version on the top left corner of the main screen, and it’s not surprising, since this is a major release.

Interestingly Iobit seems to have gotten rid of the “News” section in the bottom left corner (last seen in the beta version), which used to promote the company’s other apps. And it is a good move, no one likes to see ad-banners.

The Cleanup Residual tab, under the Tools section, has had its descriptions re-worded a bit, and the “Download File Locations” cleaner option has been renamed to “Download Folder” as well.

Iobit Uninstaller 5 now allows the user to directly perform a “Forced Uninstall” of an application, by just dragging an application’s shortcut to the desktop icon of IObit Uninstaller. This will open Iobit Uninstaller, and a pop-up prompt will ask for the user’s permission before initiating the uninstallation process, so you don’t have to worry about accidentally removing an app.

Let’s take a look at what has been added to the latest version of the app:

The File Shredder module of Iobit Uninstaller 5 can now shred a whopping 5000 files simultaneously, allowing you to wipe disks much faster. The Powerful Scan option has been improved to clean leftover files/components more thoroughly. The app now allows users to rename restore points as well.

Iobit says it has also fixed other bugs which have been reported by users, but has not detailed on the changes.

The current version of IObit Uninstaller isV 5.0.3, which is about 10.3MB to download, and runs on all versions of  Windows from XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10.
