Nero Burning Studio 2015 Review
Nero Burning Studio 2015 Review
The Roman emperor Nero burnt half of Rome and he was extremely satisfied. The German program Nero has already burnt half of the discs produced in our world and half of Earths population is extremely satisfied with its burning capabilities. Nero is still burning and it is one of the most popular programs on the software market. It was first released eighteen years ago, in 1997 and quickly became the standard for burning any optical disc. Nero Burning Rom features versatility and simplicity, speed and reliability. The application allows you to solve almost any task related to optical disc burning effortlessly. The new version has lots of new features and improvements- Nero Air Burn (i.e. burn the files directly from your Android and iOS device), Nero Launcher (get instant access to all program tools quickly and seamlessly) and some others.
Installation and Interface
The installation process is standard and presents no difficulty. After launching the setup file, agreeing to the EULA and performing some other actions, the program is ready to use. Do not forget to un-check TuneUp Utilities installation if you are not going to use it.
The main interface of the program consists of a Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, etc.), Commands Toolbar (with its help you can perform quick actions, for instance, create a new project, open Windows Explorer to add files, save created project, etc.). The main window is divided into two parts- Disc Content and File Browser. The first part is used for creating a new project and the second one includes files and folders of your computer. You can easily drag them to the first part to create a new compilation. At the bottom of the window there is a disc scale which shows the load level of the optical disc.
The main features of Nero Burning Rom 2015
Nero Burning Studio 2015 supports any type of optical disc- CDs (CD-R, CD-RW), DVDs (DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM and DVD-R DL) and BLU-Rays.
You can create UDF (i.e. Universal Disk Format) CD, DVD and Blu-Ray discs, Audio CD, Mixed Mode CD, CD Extra, CD, DVD and Blu-Ray disc copy, CD and DVD boot discs, CD, DVD and Blu-Ray ISO discs, CD and DVD UDF / ISO discs, CD, DVD and Blu-Ray secure disc, DVD and Blu-Ray video discs, AVCHD DVD and Blu-Ray video discs.
CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and Blu-Ray (UDF)– It allows you to burn discs in the standard format. All file formats are supported- images, texts, etc.
Audio CD– Are you a passionate music lover and you want to listen to your favorite audio tracks not only on your computer but also, for example, in the car or on a home CD player? If so, Nero will create the perfect audio CDs for you and let you enjoy listening to your songs everywhere. Nero Burning Studio supports the following audio formats- AAC, MP3, MP3PRO, MP3HD, MP4, APE, AIFF, AIF, CDA, OGG, OGM, WAV, WAME, MWA and FLAC.
Mixed Mode CD– Nero can burn mixed CDs, i.e. types of CD disc which may contain data files, pictures, programs, etc., as well as audio tracks. It is very convenient because you get a multifunctional and all-in-one CD that can be used in your Audio CD player (for listening to audio tracks) and on your computer (for viewing photos, text files, etc.)
CD Extra is another mixed CD format. It consists of audio tracks and data files. Speaking in other words, such discs are both a music CD and a disc intended for computer use at the same time. The feature of this disc is that it consists of two sessions. The first session contains the audio files and the second one the data files. Thus if you insert this disc into a CD player it will play the audio tracks and if you insert it into the computers DVD drive you can not only play its audio files but also view the data files!
CD, DVD and Blu-Ray Copy– Happen to have a lot of CD, DVD and Blu-Ray discs which you want to create exact copies of? This is not a problem for Nero Burning Rom. You can take full advantage of a special feature called CD / DVD / Blu-Ray Copy. The program allows you to create copies of any disc format- data, video, audio, games, etc. Nero offers two copying methods. If you only have one DVD drive you have the opportunity to save the copied disc directly onto your hard drive in NRG image format and then burn it later; if you have more than one DVD drive you can use a special option called “On the Fly”, i.e. you can burn the contents of the source disc directly to the destination drive without saving the image to disk first.
CD-ROM, DVD-ROM Boot– With the help of Nero you may also create CD, DVD bootable discs, i.e. the kind of disc from which you can boot up your system from if something goes wrong. A lot of antivirus and backup programs have special ISO files that help you to restore the previous state of Windows. With Nero you can burn these and create bootable discs which will always be at your disposal and help you easily fix any problems.
CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Blu-Ray ISO– Nero Burning Rom allows you to burn ISO files to CD, DVD and Blu-Ray discs. It supports the following formats- NRG (the default image format of the program), ISO, CUE and IMG.
CD-ROM, DVD-ROM UDF /ISO allows you to burn CD and DVD discs according to ISO and UDF standard.
CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Blu-Ray Secure Disc– If you want to burn discs which contain any confidential information you may protect them from unauthorized viewing, copying and modifying by using a special compilation method developed by Nero called “Secure Disc”. You have the possibility to protect discs with a password, add a digital signature and even use data redundancy option which will help you to recover data from bad disc sectors.
DVD Video– Create amazing video discs from the prepared audio and video TS folders. The program supports ASF, AVI, DV, MPEG, DAT, MP4, MOV and VOB video formats.
The program offers subtle and easy to use parameters for creating and burning optical discs. Some of them contain statistical information and others burning settings. Let me describe only the principal parameters of these sections in the program.
Info– This tab is contains statistical information, for example, the number of files or folders on the disc, its creation date, etc.
Multisession can be a very interesting and helpful option. Imagine that you need to burn 300 MB onto a CD but since CDs can hold at least 700 MB after burning you’d have 400 MB of free space being wasted. You can solve this problem with the help of multisession disc. You have the possibility to add new files on the disc at any time; simply insert the disc into the drive and select “Continue multisession disc”. You can use any type of disc to burn multisession discs.
Nero Disc Span is another very useful and helpful option. Often the files we want to be burnt on a disc may exceed the disc capacity. With Nero Disc Span you can split these large files and burn them separately on several discs. Simply select those files and drag them into the program window. Nero will automatically provide you with detailed information about number of needed discs, etc.
Burn– Specify the burning parameters that you wish to use- Select the write speed (varies from disc to disc and also depends on the optical drive capabilities), write method (track-at-once or disc-at-once), finalize discs, verify the written data, etc.
Erase rewritable disc– Use your rewritable discs as many times as you wish. Nero will help you to erase all the data from it quickly and safely. The program offers two erasing methods- Quick and Full erase. Additionally you can specify the speed of the erase process.
Nero Burning Rom has some extra tools. They are:
Encode Files which allows you to convert audio files from one format to another, for instance, MP3 to WMA, etc. The encoding process is very fast and easy.
Save Audio Tracks to Hard Drive– i.e. extract audio tracks from an audio CD. Simply insert the music CD into the CD or DVD drive, Nero will automatically detect the contents of CD and give you detailed information about the title, artist, length and copy status. You have an opportunity to listen to tracks with the help of a built-in audio player, name the album, select a genre or add cover art to the album (all popular image files are supported). Additionally the program allows you to configure some output options- Output directory and Playlist Format, i.e. the format for storing audio playlist (M3U, M3U8 or PLS), select output file format (WAV, MP3, etc.) and audio quality (from 64 through 320 kbps). The extraction process is very fast. The program extracted twelve tracks from my audio CD in less than three minutes! You can also save data tracks and even view them.
Download and System Requirements
The program can be downloaded from the official site. It is about 85 MB; after installation it takes more than 200 MB of hard disk space. The program costs $49.99, but you can test it for fifteen days absolutely free.
The system requirements are as follow- 1) Windows XP- Windows 8/8.1; 2) 2 GHZ Intel or AMD processor; 3) 512 of RAM.
Nero Burning Rom 2015 showed very good results in my test. I have burned three DVD discs using it so far and the program did its job perfectly! The quality of the discs was great; the writing speed was very fast as well. If you need a program that will never let you down, choose Nero Burning Rom 2015.
