Office 2016 for Mac released: And here is all you need to know about it

Office 2016 for Mac has been released by Microsoft.


And here is all you need to know about it.

Office 2016 for Mac is similar to the suite on PCs, and comes with the usual ribbon interface and its various task panes. Additionally Microsoft has improved the suiteĀ  with support for Mac machines to include features like Full Screen View, Multi Touch gestures, and full Retina display support, for vibrant colours and sharper displays.

Office 2016 for Mac is fully compatible with Office for PCs, Tablets, Mobile Devices and Office online, and also includes cloud synchronization support.

Office 2016 for Mac comprises of five applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and OneNote.

Word now includes a realtime typing feature called Collaboration, which allows multiple users to work on a document at the same time. Word for Mac also supports Mail Merge.

Office 2016 now includes six new charts, External Data Connections, Convert hand-written equations to text in Excel.

All five apps except outlook support text commands called Tell Me, andĀ  Smart Applications which use adaptive learning. Two new tools called, Power Query and Power Pivot are available for managing data in Excel and Powerpoint.

Outlook for Mac supports Propose New Time, as well as Clutter, which only displays prioruty emails in your inbox, while less important mails are moved to a “Clutter” folder. Outlook also supports new message preview which displays the first sentence of an email, below the subject line.

Office 2016 for Mac Beta Test:

Microsoft revealed that its beta test for the productivity suite, which opened up in March this year, was a huge success. The pariticipants had provided over 100,000 pieces of feedbacj, which the company used to improve the apps.

Office 2016 for Mac is now available in 139 countries and 16 languages. However, it is not available for a one time purchase just yet. The Redmond Company says that Office 2016 for Mac will only be available for direct purchase in September. This could be a hint that Office 2016 for PCs, and other devices could also be launched only in September.

Naturally the price of Office 2016, has also not been revealed yet.

How to get Office 2016?

Microsoft is allowing existing Office 365 subscribers to updated to Office 2016 for Mac. Buying an Office 365 subscription also allows users to access it, and also grants apps and access across other platforms such as Windows, iOS and Android devices. Additionally subscribers will be also get storage space in OneDrive, and some extra value in Skype.

Office 2016 is also available for Windows 10 Insiders, the company announced recently.
