Piriform CCleaner v5.10 released, and here’s what’s new in it
Piriform CCleaner v5.10 was released today, and we take a closer look at what the new version brings in.
The latest update is focused on browser cleaning.
This is what the GUI of Piriform CCleaner v5.09.5343 looked like.
And you can see what Piriform CCleaner v5.10.1373 looked like in the first image of this article. There isn’t any noticeable difference in the GUI. But there are several tweaks and changes under the hood.
CCleaner 5.10 adds improved support for managing the cookies in the new browser in Windows 10, Microsoft Edge. And it isn’t the only browser with improved cookie cleaning, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox also get the same treatment, with CCleaner adding support for HSTS (HTTP Strict Transport Security) cookie cleaning in Firefox. The latest version of the popular cleaning app brings better session cleaning in Mozilla’s browser, and adds extension cache cleaning for Google’s browser.
v5.10 of the app also improves upon the Intelligent Cookie Scan, Window resizing and DPI support as well. The Intelligent Cookie Scan feature is very important, as it retains logins for important websites like Gmail, whilst still cleaning out your web history, cookies, form data and other web content your browser has stored.
As usual there are unspecified bug fixes and improvements to the GUI, the changes of which once again remains hidden to the eye. Corsican language support has been added to CCleaner 5.10, and you can switch to it or any other language from CCelaner’s Options > Settings > Language (drop down menu).
v5.10 makes CCleaner to start up faster when compared to the previous builds of the app, thanks to some changes in its internal architecture which has been modified. This was quite noticeable actually, as the previous version used to take quite a few seconds just to initiate the Windows UAC (User Account Control) pop up. The new version starts instantly, and that’s just the way any app should be.
