Windows 10 Build 10162 rolls out to the Fast Ring of Insiders, it is the third build released this week
Microsoft is on a roll lately, and at quite a fast pace.
The Redmond company has released Windows 10 Build 10162 to the Fast Ring of the Windows Insider Program.
This is the third build released this week, after Build 10158 and 10159, which brought the new official Wallpaper of Windows 10, and a new Logon screen. Build 10159 also included over 300 bug fixes.
Microsoft says that Windows 10, just around the corner, almost every new Build goes through its internal rings and also passes the criteria for being release to Insiders. And since the company is focussed on fixing existing bugs, rather than adding new features, there are numerous builds available for release.
Many users had been requesting the company to release builds more frequently, even everyday. But Microsoft says that is not possible, as new builds have to be tested for a few days, as they have to ensure everything works fine.
I feel that Microsoft is releasing new builds too quickly. It could instead release one new Build every Friday. Microsoft does not release new Builds during the weekend, so I am pretty sure that Build 10162 is the last build for this week.
If you don’t like downloading new builds every few days to, simply switch to the Slow Ring from the Settings App. Else, if you are on the Fast Ring, Windows will automatically download new builds in the background and chew up your data (bandwidth)
Microsoft has even released the Windows 10 Build 10162 ISO for the Fast Ring users. You can download it from the official Windows 10 Insider Preview page.
According to Microsoft, Windows 10 Build 10162 has better reliability, performance, battery life, and compatibility than previous builds.
Popup tips in Windows 10:
Microsoft’s Windows Chief, Joe Belfiore announced on Twitter, that Windows Insiders will gein getting “popup tips” on PCs. These tups will help users understand how the new features in Windows 10 work. The popup tips are slightly buggy, and may appear even if you have used certain features, but Microsoft is working to fix this before the Final build is released.
New Build for Slow Ring:
Slow Ring users of the Windows Insider Program will also get a new build next week, as Microsoft’s Gabe Aul said that Build 10162 is being considered as a candidate.
Currently, Slow Ring users are still on Build 10130, which is quite outdated compared to the features in the new Builds.
Windows 10 is launching on July 29th, about twenty five days from now.
