Windows 10 Build 10576 released to the Fast Ring of the Insider Preview Program
Microsoft has officially released Windows 10 Build 10576 released to the Fast Ring of the Insider Preview Program.
Here’s a look at what’s new in the latest version of the operating system.
New features in Microsoft Edge:
A. Media Casting in Edge:
Microsoft’s new browser has a couple of new features. Edge now has the ability to cast media over devices which support Miracast and DLNA. Content which you cast include videos, photos and audio files.
This also works for various popular web services like YouTube videos, Facebook Photo Albums, and Pandora Music.
How to media cast from Microsoft Edge?
First visit the webpage which contains the media which you want to cast.
Click on the three dot menu in the top right corner of Microsoft Edge.
Select “Cast media to device” and then on the device which you want to cast to.
And you are good to go.
Casting is not supported on Netflix and Hulu, and other web services which offer protected content (read premium content).
B. Cortana support for PDFs in Microsoft Edge:
Microsoft’s Digital Personal Assistant, can now work better in Edge. Open a PDF file, and highlight some text in it and right-click on it and select the “Ask Cortana” option, and she will find some additional information about the content.
New Xbox beta app for Windows 10:
Microsoft has also updated the Xbox beta app for Windows 10. The app can now find and add Facebook friends, if they are also on the Xbox Live network. Doing so will allow, you to play, chat, and share clips with them. Game DVR, the feature which allows you to record gameplay videos, can now record voiceover as well. The app has a Store section now, which allows you to search and buy Xbox One games, and also redeem codes for games too.
Oh and Microsoft’s big tease about “something we’ve never done before with new builds” was just about the fact of releasing new windows 10 Mobile and PC builds on the same day. Honestly, we were expecting to see OTA updates or at least some cool new features, but this was just a horrid way to tempt users. Well, at least they didn’t keep talking about the thing for days.
Windows 10 Build 10576 is only available to the Fast Ring, and you know what means. There is no official ISO for the update yet. Here is the announcement page on Microsoft’s website. Honestly, there isn’t much you are missing out on.
